History
1962 The school reestablished the Institute of Geology in Taiwan, located in Miaoli Erping Mountain
1968 The school moved to Zhongli and was renamed National Central University, establishing the Department of Physics and the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Sciences.
1969 Established Department of Mathematics
1976 Established Department of Physics and Earth Science
1982 Established Institute of Optical Science
1984 Center for Space and Remote Sensing became independent from the Department of Physics and Earth Science
1990 Renamed the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science to the Department of Atmospheric Sciences and the Department of Earth Sciences
1991 Established Institute of Applied Geology
1992 Established the Institute of Astronomy
1993 Established the Institute of Space Science and Engineering and the Institute of Chemistry
1995 Established the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Life Sciences
1998 The Department of Atmospheric Sciences, the Department of Earth Sciences, the Institute of Applied Geology, and the Institute of Space Science were restructured to form the College of Earth Sciences from the College of Science.
1999 Established the Department of Life Sciences
2003 Established the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience
2006 Expand the Institute of Optical Science to the Department of Optics and Photonics
2014 The Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience became independent from the College of Earth Sciences to form the College of Health Sciences and Technology.
